Position of Child and Youth Workers (Full-Time / Part-Time Available)

We are seeking a qualified individual for our Child & Youth Worker Level 2 and 3 position. Rate of pay is based on your level of education, professional experience and position sought (starting at $16.00 hour). Schedules are provided well in advance and will include evenings and weekends on a rotational basis and may include some day hours. As a Child & Youth Worker, you will be assigned to one or two programs supporting children between the ages of 6-18 in the achievement of their individual treatment goals. Find your fit.

If you are a night owl we have a great fit for you! We have a need for overnight staff (10 pm to 9 am). This position includes a list of household tasks and reporting pieces to be completed daily but if our students settle for the night, you may too.

If you’re a busy body and like to get out and about,  will be a great fit for you! We have a need for late afternoon / evening staff. We believe limiting movement within programs gives you ample opportunity to build relationships and work within a supportive team. Training allowances and clinical support are available. It is our intention to build strong staff who enjoy working with our youth – even on the most chaotic of days.

Position of Teacher (Full-Time)

Applewood Academy is a specialized private therapeutic boarding school looking for a dynamic educator who will enhance our learning environment and foster a love of learning within our student community. Applewood’s High School program currently has an enrollment of 15 students, each working on individualized credits towards their OSSD.  Our small program size allows for increased safety measures both within the school and the residential settings, as well as, a unique opportunity for our teacher to work one on one with our students and collaboratively with our skilled team members.

Applewood Academy for Progressive Learning is looking to hire a full time Ontario Certified Teacher with Intermediate/Senior qualifications. This Teacher will work within our High School Program from May 3, 2021 to June 25, 2021. (preference will be given to Teachers with Mathematics qualifications) Additional opportunities for full time and or part time teaching positions may come available for the 2021/2022 school year.

Applewood Academy’s Certified Teacher would be responsible for facilitating Independent Learning Courses covering several curriculum areas while overseeing the overall group education programming. This Teacher would work as part of an interdisciplinary team including Child and Youth Counselors, Ontario Certified Teachers, Early Childhood Educators, Clinicians, and a Psychiatrist to facilitate a positive learning environment and individualized programing for all Applewood students.   

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ontario College of Teachers certification required.
  • Intermediate/Senior Qualifications (Preference given to Mathematics qualifications)
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal
  • Experience with children with special needs is strongly recommended
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of special education and works comfortably with students ranging in age from 14-18.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team, as well as an ability to take initiative and work independently, are assets
  • Current Ontario driver’s license
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR – level C certification (can be obtained upon hire within a designated period)
  • Clearance from a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector check and Child Welfare
