Community Support: Giving Back

At Stevenson, Waplak & Associates, our main focus is the youth and adults who come to us for help or who join our team as foster parents – our Parent Therapists. But we also support programs in our community that are available for all kids and young adults, especially educational opportunities.

“Academics is one of the best indicators of success,” noted Terry Stevenson, corporate director of Stevenson, Waplak & Associates. “Many kids who’ve grown up in care have problems getting assistance towards their education and supporting these programs is one way we can help.”

Stevenson, Waplak & Associates contributes to the John Davidson Scholarship Fund, which helps local kids attend local independent school Albert College, and supports Belleville Christian School.

We’re regular supporters of Swing for Success, a golf tournament hosted by the Frontenac Children’s Aid Society that raises scholarship funds specifically for kids in CAS care.

We also fund the Quinte Children’s Homes Child and Youth Worker Award at Loyalist College. “We want to encourage people to complete the child and youth worker program; they are an integral part of our work – both as Parent Therapists and support staff,” explained Stevenson.

We also support local organizations that work to give kids a good start:

  • Rotary Loves Kids is a golf tournament that raises funds for a variety of local children’s programs including Easter Seals camp, Quinte Children’s Foundation, and diagnostic equipment for children at Belleville General Hospital.
  • We also support the Quinte Children’s Foundation on their mission to improve the lives of children, youth and their families in Hastings County. We are regular supporters of the Foundation’s golf tournament and annual Guardian Angel Gala.

There’s an old proverb that “it takes a village to raise a child”. We’re very proud to support organizations that work so hard in our community to ensure kids have what they need to succeed.
