Serena Pepper

Lead Child and Youth Worker
(Elementary)

Hello, my name is Serena and I am the Lead staff for the Elementary Program at Applewood Academy.
I was born and raised in the Belleville area. My experiences living within the Belleville community have been very positive, and as a result, my family and I have chosen to continue to root ourselves in this area.

After spending 12 years employed in the customer service field I decided to return to school in hopes of furthering my education within the social services field. I graduated from Loyalist College’s Community Justice Service Worker program where I obtained the knowledge and skills I needed to start my career.

While attending Loyalist, I completed my placement at Applewood Academy. During this time, the staff at Applewood went above and beyond to ensure that I developed the skills I needed to succeed. I was intrigued by the individualized programming and holistic approach that the staff took with their students. I discovered that the level of dedication and passion that the staff displayed fostered positive growth not only in the students, but in myself as well.

Shortly after graduation I was hired as a Child and Youth Worker and have worked closely with the clients both residentially and within the school setting.

My current position within Applewood Academy has proven to be the most rewarding thus far. There is nothing more empowering then helping young people develop skills that lead them on a path to success. That said, I am excited to join your child on their own personalized journey to success.
