Shannon Crosbie

After-Hours Supervisor

Hello, my name is Shannon Crosbie-Sear. I am the after-hours supervisor for Applewood Academy and a Host Parent supporting two youths in our home. I have worked for Applewood Academy in some capacity (or another) since 2003. I have worked in the school setting, supported different residential programs as a Child and Youth Worker and most recently shifted into the after-hours supervisory role supporting the residential programs to navigate emergency situations or time-sensitive tasks when the daytime supervisory team members are off.

I graduated from Loyalist College of Applied Arts and Technology with a two-year Social Service Worker Diploma. Following close to fifteen years as a front-line worker, I returned to post-secondary and completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Gender Studies, followed by my Master of Arts Counselling Psychology Degree from Yorkville University. Throughout the day, I am working in the field of Psychotherapy and Case Management with two local agencies supporting folks with addiction and mental health concerns as well as survivors of trauma/violence.

When I am not working, I enjoy time in nature, reconnecting to what brings me joy and engaging in various aspects of self-care such as good coffee, walks at local trails, time with my family and friends and downtime with my life partner (and our fur babies). I am grateful for the ability to stay connected to the Applewood community through my work as an after-hours supervisor while I pursue my full-time career goals. I look forward to continuing to support the residential programs and the amazing kids that call Applewood home for the school year, as well as the dedicated staff that support the youth in the realization of their goals in the residential programs.

I look forward to supporting students and staff when the road may be a bit rocky or when our Child and Youth Workers/Staff need a supportive person and safe space to chat about the challenges of front-line work.
